| Collecting seashells and hauling them through swampy grounds, only to sell 50kg of the powdered form for RM2. This was how QL Resources Bhd started in a fishing village where DR CHIA SONG KUN led his brothers to begin a business selling seashells to local feed mills. The first in the family, and in the fishing village, to have entered university, Dr Chia graduated in Mathematics from Universiti Malaya before becoming a lecturer at Universiti Teknologi MARA for over 10 years. The seashell business came to break the cycle of poverty in his family. Their business began to expand after Dr Chia’s brother-in-law joined them. They pooled their ideas together and sought a sustainable path for the company. Four decades later, QL Resources became a multinational agro-food corporation. |

| RICHARD CM WONG climbed the ranks at Nylex to become its Managing Director and Group CEO. He left the company after 18 years and founded TEC Asia Centre in 1994, now known as Vistage Malaysia. His outstanding contributions to Vistage have been recognized with many awards, notably Robert Nourse (TEC/Vistage USA Founder) Chair of the Year 2010 and Don Cope Award 2017, the highest accolade for a Vistage Chair. Interestingly, Richard is the fourth recipient of the Don Cope Award outside the US and among 30 recipients since 1986. He has also been honored on the Vistage ‘Hall of Fame’. |
